Hotel was lovely , we loved our short stay. Staff were very friendly and helpful. Would recommend to family and friends. Breakfast was good too lovely spread. Very convenient location for our visit to the castle. We will be back.

This is a really great Hotel, traditional home cookong makes the difference. Staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The walls are quite thin which makes for a slightly noisy room especially if youre near the staircase but still slept very well and beds are super comfy.

Have stayed here before to attend Carlise Racecourse. £ 11 in a taxi to course, so great location. The Crown pub across the road is great, with lovely staff and food. Would definitely stay again.

I booked a budget stay for work and was pleasantly surprised with the standard of the hotel. I had a single room which came with a comfortable single bed, new carpet and had been freshly painted. The fixtures are clearly quite old but looks to have been freshened up and everything worked. The highlight was the (included) breakfast!! The range was huge and the cooked food top notch. The sausages were especially good. The value for money is the best I have had from a hotel in years. Will definitely stay again!

For £120 a night I expect more from a hotel where the rooms have not been updated since the 1980’s. The young man on reception was the best thing about the stay. The whole property needs gutting and starting again. It’s very tired and in need of investment. What is more disappointing is the horrendous service at breakfast. The so called chef and the waiting staff have no pride in their job. Waiting 20 minutes for eggs royale when no other customer, which there was only 4 waiting for a cooked breakfast. To make it worse, he even got that wrong and gave me florentine instead. Seriously ! Staff quite happy had tunnel vision and would not engage proactively with you. This is possibly the worst hotel I have stayed at for quality of room and service.

Can't fault it. I left very early after a one night stay, so haven't given it 5* in all aspects. Breakfast area looked good though. I was in a single room, and did feel like i had been banished to a lower standard of hotel, but once in room all was great. Main part of hotel looked very nice, although i didn't get chance to explore.
