"We were in a rental car and maps took us down a very sketchy and narrow road that we didn’t even know if it would go through and where it was taking us, so beware. Stay on the riverside road if you are driving in and the parking is a little bit challenging. Otherwise the property and stay were good. The doors to the shower and toilet are all glass, so there is not a lot of privacy, but it’s pretty."

If you come by car you have to park a bit away, but no more than 5 min walk and the rates ina beautiful underground lots are reasonable. José is a wonderful host - always responsive and available. We had a glitch on arrival when the access code to the door didn’t work, but he answered our phone call and sorted things out so that we could get in. "This property hovers practically in the clouds above Pinhão at a dramatic bend in the Douro River. The pictures on the web site cannot do it justice. It is so magnificent. There is little close by in terms of restaurants but the wonderful people at the residence will prepare a charcuterie plate and/ or salad that you can take as you watch the sunset. They also have good Douro wine available on site at a reasonable cost. For us this was unbeatable."
