"Lovely place to stay, right in the heart of Shrewsbury. It's a lovely old building, full of character and the staff were so friendly and helpful. We ate in the bar the first night we stayed and the food was hearty and home made. The bar was really busy and was obviously a popular venue. Despite the bustling atmosphere of the bar, once we were in our room we were not disturbed at all. Also, they give 10% off food and drinks to their residents - a highly appreciated touch. "

"Nice clean room with a good selection of tea and coffee, miniature toiletries in the bathroom and a comfy bed. Lovely breakfast with good options for vegetarian and vegan diets. It is a bar with rooms above so just be aware that especially if staying fri or sat night it is going to be noisy. (They do provide complimentary ear plugs!)"

"The Cain Valley is steeped in tradition and about as far from todays modern chain hotels as you can get. Great service, fair prices, good beer and enthusiastic staff. Very much a breath of fresh air. Its also well frequented by the locals - which is usually a good sign. but can get a little noisy at closing time. So recommend you ask for a room not over the Public Bar."
