We arrived to be told the authorities decided to close certain roads in the town on a Saturday and Sunday after COVID until 4pm .The car park was a 3 minute walk away but getting to it by car proved difficult as the SAT nav wanted to take us along the closed roads .After much frustration we got there in the end .It's sign posted for use of guests of the lion hotel but you can parkin it if you are staying at the Prince Rupert. Having got that advice out of the way on to the Prince Rupert hotel. The ladies on the reception were wonderful.Pleasant ,warm welcoming and very helpful.The hotel had a good feeling about it and much bigger than we expected with a lounge bar and restaurant.Breakfast was included in the cost which was very nice and there was continental and cooked available.We had a twin room with a walk in shower as that was our choice.It was clean with everything you would need for the stay The hotel was in the middle of everything.What a beautiful place to visit . Quirky shops and an abundance of places to eat and have a drink.We ate at a Spanish restaurant and sat for 2 hours eating delicious tapas . I would definitely visit Shrewsbury again and certainly stay at the Prince Rupert.Next time we would be prepared for the parking!!!!

Lovely hotel right in the town centre, very friendly and helpful staff, definitely stay again. Car parking is a 5 min walk with luggage when roads closed at weekend which wasn't a problem for us.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The fittings and decor are a bit dated but the bed was really comfortable and the linen and towels were lovely. I would suggest getting a room nearer the back of the hotel, we were on the front and it was rather noisy from the pub next door. Although the parking may seem a little complicated it's good value for being in the town and we extended the next morning at a better rate than if we had moved it. Really good location to explore the town and for walking the local area

Very friendly, but professional members of staff. Nothing is too much trouble. Beautifully decorated for Christmas. We stayed in the Mansion House and we loved the history of the older part of the hotel. Wonky walls and sloping floors added to the unique experience. Would love to stay again. The building has great character that you do not find in modern hotels. Reception staff excellent in particular the gentleman who checked me in on Tuesday 3rd December. One star deducted for staff and service as my room has not been serviced by my return at 3 p.m. on Thursday 5th December.

All trains cancelled the day i was supposed to travel to Shrewsbury. Hotel was no help at all. I booked with expedia, and they tried to get a refund they hung up on tham. Very angry it was not my fault th weather was so bad im £107.00 down not happy at all
