"I really enjoyed my stay at HI Santa Monica. The women’s dorm felt safe and clean and welcoming. Bathrooms were clean and well maintained. Breakfast was a great bonus! Area is close to a ton of stuff including metro and major bus stops, but walking around late at night as a solo women felt a little uncomfortable."

"One of the better hostels in LA. Prompt response from host. Easy check-in as long as you upload ID. Mostly clean expect the fl of female dorm bathroom. Only one bathroom for female dorm. Nice, well-stocked kitchen w/several pots, utensils etc. Only an uncomfortable bench available for indoor seating. Can't sit on the patio chairs in the back b/c of discarded cigarettes all over the ground & guests throw things from patio. Mostly long-term residents there. Wifi not the best."

"Owner was great! Easy communication, met us in person, even though we were running super late. Adorable set-up, my girls loved it! Fun for someone looking for something a bit different and adventurous. Being able to look up and see stars from your bed gave a “glamping” feel to the experience. So fun. We would definitely do it again. Important to note that bathroom is located on dock- but we didn’t mind. :) "
