"Alex, a young man from France, checked us in and was especially helpful and kind. We took his recommendation for authentic Cajun food and it was excellent. Donelle, the manager was wonderful as well, giving us a personal tour of the house along with many stories. She and her family were part of the rich history of the area, so she had many inside anecdotes. This is a special place to stay if you have any interest in delving deeper into Lafayette and Cajun heritage."

"Our flight landed at 11 a.m. and check in wasn’t until 3 p.m. they were nice enough to allow me to drop my bags off early. "

"Our second visit to Houmas house was fabulous. We spent the night and had a fabulous dinner at the Carriage House. The food is excellent. The grounds were decorated beautifully for Christmas. It is a great place to spend time with friends. Love it!"

"Karen was an amazing host! She made us feel comfortable and safe. I would highly recommend staying here for the full New Orleans experience. Karen knows all the do’s and dont’s. Breakfast was delicious and room was clean and comfortable. Will definetly be back!! "

"Actually didn’t stay in this apartment, Jules was gracious in offering the upstairs apartment instead. This one is a shotgun, requiring passage through the first bedroom to get to the bathroom and other rooms. 2nd floor apartment was lovely, with second bedroom and bath upstairs. Great location for exploring Garden District and Warehouse District, walkable to French Quarter. Excellent local restaurants."

"Quite country atmosphere, Antique charm. We were there during a seasonal rain event. It was sleep in weather. We woke up to fresh coffee and sat on the front porch admiring the wild life. We saw Redheaded woodpecker, cardinals and squirrels playing in the morning rain. It was so serene.We then enjoyed mimosa's and a tasty hot pancake and sausage breakfast.
