"I stayed with friends and chose the Lion in Shrewsbury for the history and authenticity of staying in an original listed hotel. Our rooms were decorated nicely although the curtains in one room were tired. It must take alot to maintain a large hotel like the Lion. Bathroom not modern but clean with lovely white towels and toiletries and hot shower. All the staff were lovely, breakfast really good. Nothing was too much trouble. Its definitely not a glitzy hotel but the originality of the building...

"A great location at the center of Stafford. Our room was clean and well prepared. The staff were very helpfull and the pub made a welcome change from those soulless budget hotels. I'd definitely recommend this place to anyone Free parking was an added bonus but could do with a few electric car changing points "

"The staff are very pleasant and willing to help. The dining facilities are very nice and the food is of a high standard. The room I stayed in was basic , very clean and very well priced. It’s an old building with hot water radiators unfortunately every time the heating started in my room there was the constant sound of water running into the radiator. This didn’t help at 6am and the only option given was to switch it off."
