"I really enjoyed my stay here. I was travelling for business so had little time for site seeing but the area was beautiful. Hotel was spotlessly clean and the food was amazing. Clearly run by someone who wants to provide excellent service. If I visit the area again this is the first hotel I will try to book. "

"Bowes is perfect for visiting Hadrian’s Wall and the many forts and museums around. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We ate both nights at the Bowes and the food on both nights was very good. The Thai food was delicious and you could tell it was all freshly prepared and cooked. The bed was comfortable and ideal for us after long walks. We would have no hesitation in staying again."

"After reading a review in a paper we decided to try for ourselves. The George and Dragon staff were so welcoming and friendly easy to talk to and very helpful. Our room was clean and tidy with lovely en-suite shower room , soft towels and toiletries . Breakfast and evening meal was delicious all staff made sure our dining experience was so comfortable. We shall return."

Although property is old fashioned, my single room, with en suite was very clean and bed was comfortable The breakfast cerea,l yogurt etc was an unexpected bonus. Kettle, microwave and fridge in room. Member of staff on arrival friendly and helpful. I couldn’t get the tv to find any chanels, but not there long enough to enquire about it. Could do with a chair, but overall exactly what i wanted Thank you"

"Horrendous journey to the Fox and Pheasant. Worried we would miss the dinner cut off time we called through. Been traveling for over 10 hours! No problem arrive very tied to a lovely bowl of soup. Feel in to bed and had an amazing sleep. Set off next morning after a fantastic breakfast and a lovely packed lunch. Defo stop off again"
