"We made a last minute decision to go to Hawaii for Christmas and got lucky to find this home. Host was super communicative and easy to work with. Lani was great with views and ocean breeze. We wanted beds and rooms for 5 adults so this worked out well. Having 3 full bathrooms was a bonus. Quiet town and lots of driving but that was perfect for our adventures going to volcano, beaches and waterfalls. Great family memories for a lifetime."

"Rick's Place is phenomenal! Process was smooth from start to finish. Can't say enough good things about this home! We arrived after dark and didn't realize there would be such a long a drive down to sea level BUT it was so worth it when we arrived! Dan had the house lit up and wonderful Hawaiian music playing for us. The outside lights with motion sensors guided us in with no issues. We were surprised to find the home so open with the sea air and breeze flowing in all windows. This ended up being one of our most favorite things about the place, just the fresh sea air! We unpacked quickly and rested only to wake up to the most beautiful view. The pictures in the post don't do it justice. The waves crashing on the lava wall became our favorite sound both day and night. We enjoyed sitting out on the overlook reading and watching for fish and whales and just the peaceful calm that goes along with Rick's place. We saw dolphins, reef sharks, fish, boats, swimmers and even scuba divers (at night too!) The pool was great!We had plans to explore the island but ended up rearranging our itineniary to accommodate being at the house most days which felt like home to us! Dan was responsive to our needs and an excellent host seen by the home's detail and can say it was the best stocked vrbo we've ever been to and I am not kidding! Outdoor shower was heavenly! If you're thinking about booking just do it, what a magical, beautiful place! Thank you Dan, we will be back!!!Mike and Angie"

"Loved the house. The neighborhood is so quiet, we saw a few people walking in morning or evening but other wise didn’t see or hear anybody. It is amazing to open all the doors and windows and sleep to the sound of the ocean. The sunsets are beautiful from the back porch. It is best to stock up on groceries in Kona, there is small stores within 10 minutes but the prices are higher, they do have just about everything you would need. We got some water 1st day at store but then refilled the water jugs provided, the water you get at fill stations taste good. The house was well stocked with basic salt,pepper, coffee filters, small cooler and then odds and ends people have left. We enjoyed just sitting on back porch enjoying the quiet. My husband fished off the rocks and caught quite a few little fish. He snorkeled in front of the house and saw a lot of fish. We went to the park by the house and walked into the beach. It is short hike and only us and another couple on beach all day. We explored a lot of beaches on south end and most were less crowded, you have to hike a little less than a mile for some but payoff is no one there. The road down is curvy but we didn’t find it bad, even drove it at night and it was fine. House is very easy to locate. Enjoyed talking to owner he was very nice and was there for anything we needed. Excellent place for relaxing and will stay here again. "

"Great little getaway on the quiet side of the big island. Turnoff from main road is difficult to see at night, so the owner came out and set a light for us. Can't ask for better service than that, honestly. Room has a well-equipped ensuite kitchen. Ka'u is farm country, so it's good to be able to do one's own cooking and coffee-making. Bathroom was nice; hot water worked well. This is a good base for visiting the green sand beach and Volcano national park. There are also a lot of nice secluded beaches nearby (owner can give recommendations). The area is pretty rural and there aren't a lot of services, but the people are friendly and the services that do exist are adequate."

"Great location for an off-the-grid R&R vacation (with TV, Internet, etc.). Simple amenities in close-by town were good and Kai Lokis was tremendous - food and atmosphere. Wonderful sunsets, sunrises and night sky viewing of stars."

"We were looking to get away from the crowds, get a Hawaiian experience away from town. Dee's Farm did all this and got us a nice view of sunsets over the ocean. Prepare to be off grid, there are farm animals around. "
