"A perfect start to our Hawaii trip! After a long day of travel from the mainland, we arrived at Kona Palace and were warmly greeted by Rebecca. Our room was spotlessly clean and very comfortable. After a good night's sleep, we enjoyed a wonderful breakfast served on the lanai with amazingly beautiful views. Rebecca provided fresh fruit from her property (including fresh-squeezed orange juice), homemade granola, eggs, taro rolls, and more. After breakfast, coffee, and good conversation, we were on our way, but I would have loved to have stayed here longer. 5 stars!"

"Outstanding property for large group. Panoramic Views & everything you will need from kitchen to sports and beach chairs / floats, etc. A little drive to sites and action in Kailua, but the peace and tranquillity of this spectacular property is well worth it! Guy is a tremendous host! Dennis"

"This property was amazing overall and very comfortable for a family of 4. The views from the deck were amazing and you could smell the sea air throughout the stay there--even though the ocean is about 200 yards away from the property. You are literally 30 minutes from anything, so the peace and quiet at this property is amazing. That is also true for the stars if the night is clear as this area is far away from a lot of light pollution and you can see a "bowl of stars." Finally, while didn't need much from the owner, she is super responsive, friendly, and gives you a ton of information on what to do in the property (rules) and places to go (pro-tip: take her advice on the secret black-sand beach. It's worth the walk!)Couple of notes if you are planning on staying here (which I would highly recommend):The road in and out of this place is STEEP. They don't believe in switchbacks in this neighborhood at all.While she doesn't mention that the place has AC, I just overlooked that it wasn't listed as an amenity. Coming from cold Colorado nights to Hawaii warm was an adjustment for sure. However, she's got plenty of fans in the house to cool it off and it was very pleasurable listening to the frogs sing at night and the symphony of birds in the morning (except that one bird. It knows who it is.)If we find our way back to the big island again, we'd definitely stay at this place again without hesitation! "

"We came to celebrate my 50th birthday in style & stayed for 10 nights. Overall the house is very nice, with beautiful surrounding gardens and views that go on forever. Sitting on the porch with either coffee or cocktail were exceptional. Michele & Ron were quick to communicate as well. Some minor things we felt could have been better but in no way diminished the trip (Just suggestions). 1. Visitors should understand the beach is quite a ways down the VERY steep hill side. 2. Consideration of length of stay should be given to having enough trash bags for guests. The 2 or 3 trash bags we had were not enough for 4 adults staying for 10 nights. This also applied to toilet paper. Told to buy more after the initial rolls ran out was frustrating because it turns out there were new packages already in the house. 3. With the trash bag issue also came the inconvenience of needing to bring your trash to the disposal center which was only open 3 specific days during specific hours. Although this itself did not bother us, having no outside garbage can to keep trash in until we could bring it there was problematic because of critters gaining access to it. 4. Having a screen door on the front door would be fantastic! The cross breeze that entered every time we opened it was awesome however we did not leave it open because we did not want extra "guests" in someone else's home. Overall, the house is comfortable and a great place to stay. "

"Our cute yellow bedroom was adorable. We spent evening hours out on the lanai - Reading out on the lanai was so relaxing! Listening to all the nightly chirping was cool. Emma cooked wonderful breakfasts that started our days eating upstairs on their outdoor patio. Carl shared all the fruits around their home that Emma used. Location was great - we went to one beach 2.5 miles south and saw fish and a sea turtle. Snorkeled at step down beach - cool fish seen. We ventured 15 -25 min for evening meals. Note: downtown Kona parking charges $15/hr - we stayed for one hour to view all the artisans at their art show. Again great b& b - highly recommend!"

"We love staying in the Captain Cook area, and this property was perfect! Well appointed, comfortable home with a great lanai. The coqui frogs will serenade you in the evening, chickens will do the same in the morning, and Kiko (a very friendly dog) will stop by to say hello once or twice a day. We will definitely hope to stay here again on future trips to the Big Island."

"Our host as very accommodating and responded to anything we needed. The daylight lower apartment is nicely set up. We could see a little view of trees and the water from the small deck with a surrounding flowering garden.We were able to make meals on the hot plate and small refrigerator provided. A microwave and coffee pot is available too. The bathroom is beautiful and the bed comfortable. It was in a neighborhood, so stores are 20 to 30 minutes away. But we appreciated the quiet and snorkling was within 15 minutes away. A nice, clean and reasonably priced place to stay."
