"Spotless rooms, staff super helpful. Great place"

"Dated room with peeling wallpaper, lukewarm water, and small uncomfortable bed. Certainly not worth £90. Dinner was shocking, and can only be described as a congealed bowl of slob. Meals were returned to the kitchen uneaten, but the £26 were not refunded. Breakfast was ok, but served on a dirty table with last night's drink stains on it. The only saving grace were the friendly and welcoming staff."

"Its a delightful tavern. Plenty of room on the car park and onto a traditional, friendly bar where my hosts booked me in quickly and with a great intro to how everything worked. I had room 2, in a purpose built outbuilding and I was really pleased with the first impression. Everything worked as it should and there were lots of extras not normally given in this type of accommodation. "Nice pub, our room was above bar so you could hear the bar below, it's a pub at the end of the day so you have to expect some noise. Room clean and tidy bed comfy shower good and hot, tea making facilities tea bags wont replenished. For the price of room it was value for money. Location good for the city center and railway station "

"Fabulous location opposite the end of the Shambles and within easy walking distance of all of York’s attractions. Only one vegetarian option on the menu and limited selection of cask ales. There was no room cleaning for the 3 nights we stayed there - toilet rolls and drink replenishment had to be asked for downstairs. Cups were cardboard ‘to-go’ variety and there was no hairdryer.
