"The staff were helpful and friendly throughout our stay . The room was probably in need of an update but cannot fault the cleanliness . It has a lovely bar area inside and out and both the outdoor pools were clean and tidy . The indoor spa and pool were an added bonus . We were B&B and the breakfast was more than acceptable. We did eat in the restaurant on one of the evenings and found the food lacking in choice but this would be my only negative. The hotel is a 20min walk into the town centre and very handy for bus stops/taxis and lots of restaurants in walking distance . We found it an excellent base to explore Funchal from ."

"Honestly, I thought this hotel was great. I enjoyed my room: clean, with a great shower and it had the benefit of a fridge and a balcony with sea-view. The daily room service was also appreciated. The hotel's team members were friendly and efficient. It had a decent in-house restaurant, but there was also the option of walking for no longer than 10 minutes to get to other restaurants. Good sized pool(s) with plenty of seating. "

"This really is a 'leading hotel of the world'. I've been privileged enough to stay in some top hotels around the world and this was one of my favourites. Pristine inside and out. The pool area is stunning. Great bars and dining options. I liked the Galaxia Sky Bar which has fantastic views. Within a very short walk there are some nice restaurants and bars around the hotel. Fantastic breakfast with a huge choice. We had one of the Ocean View rooms on the 10th floor. It's soundproof and super quiet and we weren't disturbed by any noise. Beautiful room, well appointed. I have two minor niggles which are by design. Firstly the air con turns off if you open the balcony door. This is normal but annoyingly it doesn't come back on when you close the door (you need to switch it back on manually at the wall controller). Also I like to be able to find my way to the bathroom in the night but couldn't leave a light on. This is because theres a glass wall between the shower and bedroom. The curtain covering it lets the light through from the bathroom so it's too bright to sleep (we resorted to leaving the vanity mirror turned on and pointing it in the opposite direction). The staff are super friendly and the service is excellent. We hope to return to Funchal in the future and will definitely stay here again if we do."
