The house gave us a feeling of traditional, rural Azorean countryside living - Complete with cows and a lovely little horse in the pastures beyond. "My husband and stayed for three nights in late Aug. Rui was amazing with the check in, providing tons of information on the area including hiking spots that we were interested in. There was fresh bread and Dona Amelias (homemade) awaiting us. Both were amazing. The place is simple, cute and clean. We were ready for peace and quiet and that is what we got. "One of our best stays ever, in a fantastic house with a lovely garden and a superb view over the lake. João, the grandson of the owners, was very helpful. Cannot recommend it more highly, especially for those who love older houses, with high ceilings, wooden shutters, etc. For some things,perhaps it showed there no longer was a small army maintaining the estate, but to us that only added to the charm.
