"This was the worst hostel experience I’ve ever had. The rooms were dirty and the atmosphere was very unsafe. There were drug addicts in my room who told me they were living there permanently. They did all sorts of drugs. Nothing matched the positive reviews, and I felt completely misled. I wouldn’t recommend this place to anyone!"

"We were nervous arriving at this hotel as some reviews were horrific! We were delighted to find that the room and en-suite bathroom were absolutely spotless. Yes, the stairs are a bit grubby and *very* steep but so were every other stairs we came across in Amsterdam. "It is shared accommodations, and you should pack your own set of bed sheets, blanket cover, and pillow case. Probably better suited to a longer stay. A nice place to meet other travelers. Breakfast was nice. The proprietor is agreeable and welcoming."

"I did not like the fact that the page states there is parking available, but the reality is that there isn't. I was counting on that. Also, there is not much to do in the area. The only good thing is that from there, it is easy to move with public transport and reach places that have more going on. The hostel was clean and the people there were nice and friendly. "

"This is the place to stay if you have a family. Kids will love this place and the best part a huge mall and access to tram. You are basically in the middle of it all. We have stayed here for a week but will be a frequent visitor. The people are friendly and very keen to serving you. There is no other place that delivers on comfort, access, and ease of stay! Also great eatery near by including some Michelin reviewed! "

"Loved Bob W. Stunning apartment complex, really good location - only a few stops on the bus to Amsterdam Centraal. The bus stop is right around the corner not even 2 minutes walk. I loved the little touches in the room like the stickers, the tote bag and the lil Polaroid camera that you can use and keep the pics (not the camera ofc so don’t pinch it 😉). "Although Hotels.com cancelled my reservation from the hotel instead of showing me as a no-show for late check-in, hotel staff was extremely helpful for finding a solution at the spot. I might not have a place to stay if it wasn't for their incredible kindness to offer me one of the available rooms. I'm terribly sorry that I forgot her name but If i remember correctly Mariana(The hotel manager) is one of the nicest people you can find around Amsterdam. Thanks to her and other crew members for their kindness and helpfullness. In addition you can rent a bike from the hotel also, so that was a great plus for me. Once again thanks to everyone who made me feel welcomed"

Micro Hotel Happiness

"citizenM Amsterdam South is a unique chain of hotels with a micro footprint focus. Each room has an "open" show and toilet area in the main bedroom, partitioned by a glass tube and or curtain, which takes some getting used to. The staff is stellar, I enjoyed when they called us guest "citizens". The lobby feels akin to a hostel, in that its very communal, even with the likes of business workers. Its affordable and in a good location. Watch out for all the bikes!"
