"This is the first visit to the imperial Torquay but will definitely be going back. The hotel is like it has been plucked out of a poirot movie, grand staircases, Chesterfield sofas, big wingback chairs, beautiful, right up my street. Had a double deluxe with a sea view and the room was huge, and spotlessly clean. 2 comfy chairs to take in the sea view, robes and slippers, toiletries and plenty of tea coffee and bottled water. The bar was reasonably priced, did not have the breakfast so can't comment on the food. It's a 5 minute walk to the harbour and 10 to the town, there is a harvester pub next door practically that are open all day and you can book a table. It was quiet when we went due to the time of year but still had a pleasent time. The on site parking is plentiful and £8.50 per night. Thoroughly enjoyed my stay at the imperial Torquay, the hotel was charming, elegant and full of character, just wish I had tried the pool and Spa, will pencil it in for when I go back. "

"The property was very clean and tidy. Our room was really really nice, the decor was old with a modern touch. The staff were very good. We were able to get a late check out and when we turned up at 2 o’clock one hour before check-in, our room is ready and we were able to get in. as it was our anniversary we had a little plate two small sponge cakes with happy anniversary written in chocolate left in a room on arrival which was a lovely touch. Breakfast in the morning to the room was on time hot and what we asked for. The only downside to our stay was it included dinner as well as breakfast. Our evening meal in Colson‘s restaurant was let down by poor service from staff members who had no idea what food was or wasn’t on the menu, and was gutted that there was an additional £10 charge to have items from the grill section when one of those items was the same price or not cheaper than other items we could have included in our deal. As for desert there was six items on the menu and they did not have two of them at all and one other only had half of the availability for that desert. So I can’t down the hotel I can only down on how I feel about Colson’s the restaurant."
