"A cheap and cheerful option when flying from Gatwick airport. A little of the main routes it was still easy to get into Crawley and to get to the airport in about 10 minutes. Was under the flight path of the airport but this was not a significant disruption. Would use again. (The car park was free to hotel guests)"

"Very tidy and clean comfortable bed "

"Welcoming staff and friendly. Parking was easy. Good selection of pub food which was nice. Room was very clean, tea, coffee and a bottle of water provided. Bathroom was clean and lovely white towels, soap and body wash provided. Great location from bristol airport. Only downfall was the single bed but it was comfy "

"We were thrilled with our choice of Hillthwaite. It has a central location near to both Windermere and Bowness yet high enough on a hill to have views of Lake Windermere from rooms and public spaces. The hotel is beautifully organized with several public lounges: sun room, library, bar/lounge and restaurant–all of which feature Lake views, as well as outdoor terraces. "Excellent experience all round, booking in simple, rooms very clean, food good, fresh and filling. Drinks very cheap in comprison to where we live in south east. Would stay again, no issues at all"

"Lovely hotel gardens really pretty place. Great room good bed, stayed 1 night. We had dinner in the restaurant the Thursday menu, delicious. Special thanks to Claire who served us breakfast lovely person very accommodating. Great stay will go back."

"We stumled across this hotel by accident but what a find. Set in a very picturesque location the hotel is quite charming. There are many positives which include the rooms, the food dinner and breakfast, the staff (who were just superb) and the owner who was only to happy to chat about the hotel and its history. This is a great place to go and unwind and all four of us who visited just loved it."

"Difficult one to award stars. The hotel itself, appearance and setting is fantastic. The service and quality of food was exceptional as was the value for money. The one thing that was a huge disappointment was the room. We stayed in room 12. The bed, I think, was installed when the hotel was built, it was so uncomfortable that neither of us slept for more than a couple of hours. Every time any water was used, sink, shower or WC a motor kicked in presumably part of the sewage system. The noise...

"The staff were extremely friendly, and the room was acceptable with a good shower. The breakfasts were basic, and the dinners were pub style but adequate. The area is right in the countryside and the historic village church is well worth a visit"
