"Can’t recommend this place highly enough. Superb location for anyone that loves golf, biking, hiking or indeed lazing by the pool. Felt like we had the place to ourselves even though the restaurant was relatively busy each evening. The staff are instinctively helpful at every turn and just a five day break felt like a fortnight. Well-being in a week right here! Chapeau to the HDC team and I’m sure I’ll be back with my golf clubs at some point to play Seve’s 18 👌"

"The shower had the wrong wall bracket, so kept dropping off (room 8) The swimming pool was empty and looked likely had been for some time. The internet is unusable and only accessible in one area. Sound proofing between rooms not good. The staff were excellent and food ok; drinks very reasonable. If you want a break in the middle of nowhere, this is for you, the views of Mt Teide from the bedroom amazing."

"Our first experience in a Barcelo hotel and adults only. It was a fab experience with great food (I put on weight!) - they had a different additional theme each night. Pool area was stunning. The pools were on the cooler side like most hotels but my husband enjoyed his swim. Didn’t get chance to try indoor spa but available at extra cost. Walking distance both ways from hotel. "For a 1* pension hotel the room I had as a solo traveller was superb ! Good sized room, sink, fridge, and balcony was just perfect. Also the property has clearly been renovated as everything appeared new and the common WC/ shower rooms are very modern with a very hot power shower. Raphael and Carlos keep the property spotlessly clean and do a great job. I highly recommend Pension Alcala, but its best to try and book a room with a balcony "
