"Just returned home from a lovely stay at The Sandrock in Lynton. The Sandrock is a little out of the way of the main high street but still only a 5 minute walk to the shops etc. We stayed in room 4 which was clean and well appointed, the en suite was spacious (huge infact!)and the towels really fluffy, it was also super clean and tidy. "This is a modest, small place. Not really a hotel at all - more a case of Pub with Rooms. We were shocked when we asked, "What time do you serve breakfasts?" A reasonable question? "We don't do breakfast!" was the reply. The (friendly) manager waved her hand vaguely out of the window and told us of a cafe, supposedly a short walk away. "When we arrived we were told by the landlady that the place was not a hotel as it was currently undergoing refurbishment. However the landlady and her mother were the most helpful, accommodating and kind people I have met in a long time. They gave us all food and drink, made telephone calls and even drove us to our rearranged hotel. They couldn’t have done more. When the hotel reopens it will be the best place to stay because of the kindness and welcoming of those who own and manage it."
