"The best way to describe the Great Western is with the two words, quaint and quirky! The house is in the middle of a massive re-vamp, but that did not impinge on my stay, which was short, but long enough to form a very positive opinion. My room was clearly re-purposed, with the en-suite bolted on, but it was clean, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom fittings were quite new and of a good standard. The furnishings were old-fashioned, but I thought that gave the place its charm and...

"Warm welcome from the proprietor. There is parking space for 2 vehicles at the front on a first come, first served basis, and free parking in the road during winter months, and a car park accepting coins almost adjacent. Access through front door is by wireless keyfob. The room had a small en-suite shower / WC area, FreeView TV and WiFi, but no bar or mini bar. The location is close to the seafront (Esplanade), and within easy walking reach of local restaurants etc. "

"Amazing stay from start to finish. Tim and Sheila made us feel so welcome right from the moment we arrived. Lovely cottage with every feature, utensil and creature comfort you could hope for. Great pub in the village and close to Salcombe and other places in south Devon. Will definitely be recommending to friends and hope to stay there again in the future. "

"This is not a hotel. its more of a doss house. Paid for 2 nights. went to the moxy instead which is just another level compared to this. Yes its cheap, but the whole area feels unsafe, and you wouldnt want to leave your car here."

"Didn't see he host at all during my stay. Although there were no issues, I knew if I needed them they were a phone call away. The room was well equipped with a bath and shower, kettle, hair dryer, towels etc. Very comfortable and quiet. I dropped something out of my pocket and as I was looking for it, seen that under the furniture was covered in dust accompanied by a spider on my towels. I was a little freaked at this, but it's the country. It's to be expected. "
