The decor is sumptuous. I cannot fault the hotel. However, when I booked on line, the option of a single room was not available, so I booked a double room for1 person. So I was rather surprised to have a small single room on arrival.

I will never stay at this property again and implore you to consider another option as well. I was moved twice during myvstay within the first couple of hours of my stay. 1st roo. - room 101 had plumbing issues and a heater that didn't work. Room 110 wherr I was then moved to had the inside llsecure lock broke - concerning for single female travelling alone, - and there was a MOUSE in the room. The 3rd room I was moved to, room 414, also had a non functioning heater but by this time I was done. I stayed rattled the whole stay about mice in the building and regretted immensely booking this hotel. Ratings misleading and simply not okay. And if they at all cared about customer service, they wpuld have themselves offered a refund the minute I had to be moved a second time following reporting of a MOUSE IN MY ROOM. If I could give a rating less than 1 star, I would.

The staff is incredibly friendly, the atmosphere is fantastic, and the building itself is stunning. The hotel also hosts plenty of events, which adds to its charm. A big shoutout to Dagmara at the reception desk for always being so helpful and accommodating!

Very helpful staff and a most architecturally amazing hotel. Lovely meals. Plumbing was a bit Victorian!

It was across the road from our theatre venue. The elegance of years past has been maintained with professional, up to date services. A couple of USB ports in the room would have been nice.

On arrival, we were told only one key card was allowed. When requested and given two, only one worked at any given time endless journeys to reception to get a new one, their room entry system need sorting. Excellent breakfast menu and very pleasant staff, excellent service. Evening meal menu seemed to consist mainly of fish dishes, not being a particular fan of fish was forced to go else where, luckily a very good range of local pubs and eateries, well within walking distance.

The car park was too small. No monitoring of the care park. I felt outsiders used it even if they were not going to the hotel for an event or meal etc.

A beautiful historic hotel, original but pleased to see the updated interior still top class. All staff were pleasant and helpful. Bar and restaurant were very good. A good nights sleep, warm and comfortable. In a very spacious bedroom suite . Only issue was in our room needs some decorating plus an obvious repair to the ceiling. Would like to return and stay longer.

Here for work training purposes, meeting rooms/rooms & communal areas are scorching hot with little to no air flow nor possibility to open windows. Breakfast staff are amazing though!

This lovely old hotel is perennially reliable and perfect for walks to the Barbican, the city centre and the Ferry terminal. No need to book a taxi and they are willing to hold one's luggage for the return. The receptionists are wonderful and the bar/lounge very cosy.

Unfortunately our double room was small and only had one bedside table which was very inconvenient. We stay at this hotel regularly but this visit was not so good as previous stays. When I asked if I could have a bedside table put in the answer was no. I ended up using a chair.

Hotel had a lot of character and history, which includes survivors of The Titanic and Ernest Shackleton the Antarctic Explorer which has a room named after him. He were lucky enough to stay in that room.

One of, if not the worst stay I’ve had in years. We had 2 rooms booked, a family room and a superior double. Firstly the family room was very cramped, and the single mattress has seen much better days and hardly represented a mattress anymore. The room was very dated and worn down, and had a very musky smell. While the superior double room was better, it was in fact much larger than the family room, and made more sense for this to be the family room. However that was unfortunately the only positive of the room. This room again was very worn down, and this one was pretty dirty. The floor clearly hadn’t been mopped or cleaned, the shower was covered in hair, long and short, the towels had black marks on them and the wall was flaking away with clear signs of damp. The shower was terrible, with the water pressure coming and going, and it taking 5 minutes for the temperature to stabilise, both the shower and toilet dripped with the noise being heard through the night too as the door doesn’t close properly and there is a huge gap underneath, and the handle was hanging off. We had multiple key issues, with it regularly deactivating and needing to go to reception to re-program. The tap water also came out cloudy several times. The car park also only has roughly 10-15 spaces, so fills up pretty fast, by the Wednesday evening we arrived, there wasn’t any spaces. Breakfast was not worth the price at all and a very small selection, with none of it being particularly good.
