"We were unable to contact to let them know our time of arrival as nobody answered the phone. When we arrived nobody from the hotel was there so we called the number on the door which was answered. After a short while somebody turned up to let us in ,but there was some confusion over the booking as the diary was not available, however we were shown up to our room via an outside metal staircase. The island's owners, who also run the exclusive Burgh Island Hotel and the Pilchard Inn, permit access via a footpath across the summit to this side of the island; relatively few people make it beyond the Pilchard Inn, however! Bolt Tail can be seen in the distance.
