"Our room, a junior suite was quite large and surgically clean. Bathroom was very modern, large and with great water pressure. Staff was great. My only caution would be to comment that this is not an air-conditioned hotel in the usual sense. There is a system which can be set to lower the temperature in the room slightly, but we found it ineffective. If you're not comfortable sleeping in a warm room, this hotel might best be considered only in the cooler months. "

"Quite near to central station and old center of the town. The staff was very friendly and informative about what to do in the town. The interior is a bit aged and the bathroom was small but very OK for the price."

"We arrived early after being on a cruise. They stored our luggage and I went exploring for a bit. I was not feeling well and returned to see if my room was available. The reception staff were kind. The room I was booked into was not available, they provided me an upgraded room to allow me the opportunity to have so rest. This was much appreciated. "

"Traveling from Canada, we found Basel to be quite expensive. That said, Royal Hotel provided really good value for money. It was professionally run, the self check-in was easy, and being across the street from transit was very convenient. The unit was small, but very clean and as advertised. There were 5 of us (two adults and three teen children) and had a good sleep. It was nice to have a (small) work area too. We'd stay again! "
