"I did not like the area. I did not like that the doors were always closed, that there was a slight gap in the blinds so people could look into my room. It took the lady an hour to find my reservation. There was always loud music playing late at night and sometimes the owner’s kid would cry a lot."

"I loved my stay at Casa Gardenia. Location was very convenient to restaurants. I felt safe walking at night to go out to dinner. The hotel was multi level and had a great view of the city on the 3rd floor. Breakfast was good with bread, fruits and eggs. Staff was very nice. I would stay here again. "

"Everything was perfectly fine. The staff didn't speak English, as is common in Ecuador, but using Google Translate worked fine. The property is just around the corner from the Planetario, which was worth the quick trip. It is within a 15-minute walk from the Cathedral. I craved junk food while I was there, and McDonald's is a block away. Good salads. The receptionist told me my room was small and offered another, but it was on the ground floor, so - no stairway. I was just a party of one, so...

"Beds were hard as rocks, even with earplugs we were wakened every night. Our room was tiny (2 twin beds against side walls with 18" between them and maybe 24" between beds and dresser. Room had no ventilation, was musty smelling and humid, nothing would dry, tiny closet area. Parking cost $10 daily for tiny lot across the street, everything was soaked by the time we got into the hotel. Staff is very friendly and courteous, breakfast was ok.
