When we arrived later in the evening we found the only way to the front door was crossing a rickety, rotted out deck with nails sticking up all over. The strong odor of musty/mold greeted us when we opened the door. Host told us to just open some windows. Then we found there was a ladder type stairs to go up to the sleeping area. You are woken by birds and apart from the wind in the trees, that's the only sound. The house is well equipped and in the perfect location for stroll to the nearby town of Schoorl, or as a base for exploring the surrounding area of dunes and forests and of course, the amazing golden beaches. "We are a family of 4 from Canada, and this was such a lovely place to stay and explore the area including Amsterdam. It was very easy to hop in the train. The guesthouse was clean and very cutely decorated. Marcel was very accommodating and kind. We didn't have much time to visit him because we were so busy, but he checked in with us frequently. I would highly recommend a stay here."
