"The room was ok. Nothing to write home about, bathroom adequate although the tiles were loose. Breakfast for which we paid on check in; well it was £10 each so not expensive but no options. No cereal although there were some boxes but no dishes or milk. No options on what we wanted. We’d booked it fo 8:30 am on a Sunday morning so not late. The server really couldn’t be bothered and wanted us gone. Didn’t ask if we wanted more coffee/tea. On the whole, I wished we’d have gone elsewhere for...

"We loved it here and will certainly be back. Great facilities, food and service. My husband was extremely happy to see decent size mugs for the tea and coffee in our room! (Most hotels we have stayed in lately seem to only have little mugs!)"

"Quite expensive considering the size of the room and breakfast not included. That said, bed and pillows super comfortable. We ate a late afternoon three course meal and breakfast the following day which were both excellent."

"Fairly decent for the price of rooms. Showering can be tricky as the hot/cold stream is via a single handle - its very much trial and error. Top floor is private residency and could benefit from new or thicker carpets. You hear all footfalls, stomping around and conversations. Still ideal for short work related trips. "

"The hotel was in the perfect location for the rail station, which was the reason for booking. The hotel was adequate in regards to their facilities, and the owner was very friendly, which is always a plus. The room was small, but fine for an overnight stay. It was a little bit musty in smell, though probably just needed airing a little bit more. Breakfast was reasonable and I was accommodated for allergies and preference. "

"The Old Lock Up was clean,warm, and welcoming. I stayed for 3 nights in the Solicitor's room, which I found pleasant and characterful, with a comfortable bed and a good sized ensuite. It was very quiet with really thick walls. The breakfast was great and beautifully cooked. The property is well situated a short walk from the centre of Wirksworth. I managed it easily even with a sprained ankle. I had a very pleasant stay."
