"Wonderful stay, lonely staff and amazing food"

"Enjoyable stay at a good price. Pretty up to date room with a good breakfast. Offered advocado with the full English when I said I did not want black pudding. Croquet lawn. Very friendly and helpful staff. Free EV charging was a nice plus although I think 2 of the 3 chargers were not working. The main negative was the noise of a fan turning on and off outside my particular room (Quail). Was annoying."

We will want the same impressive bedroom, over the dining room and we will probably make the same choices at dinner (book a table, there were none spare on our Saturday evening). Our visit started well when we had a wonderfully warm welcome from a local. It was Friday evening with a group of men drinking and chatting outside; one came over to open the outer door for us fully laden visitors and then came in to open the inner door, wished us a pleasant stay...

"We stayed here in the Tudor 4 poster room. While some of the reviews mentioned noise in some of the suites, we only heard guests downstairs when we were in the bathroom and then only in the afternoon. It was quiet in the evening / night. It was a great place to stay after a 5,000 mile trip from the Western US and recover from jet lag before going on to meet friends and family elsewhere in the UK. (It’s about a hour from Heathrow).
