"Location is great in terms of railway station, however sadly the area is not particularly attractive and home to lots of homeless and drug users. The hotel inside is good, with all the usual amenities, and very friendly staff."

"A very unique venue combining original architecture with modern features which made it more interesting than your average hotel. You can take a short walk around the hotel to see all the different buildings and plaques to show what they were used for. Staff were friendly and the hot breakfast was excellent if a little expensive. Cons - the room was quite dingy (no big surprise in a converted prison however a few more lights would've been ideal). "Always enjoy a stay at malmaison, suites are lovely and spacious, never stayed in standard rooms. Dinner options are relatively limited but there is always enough choice and the food doesn’t disappoint. Breakfast also good. Both continental and hot choices if you want to pay a little extra and all cooked fresh. Bar tends to be that little bit quieter on a Friday evening so preferable for us to a Saturday evening! Another great stay, we’ll definitely be back yet again soon. "
