"Good: The beach. The pool. The variety of dining options. The hotel though in several areas like the rooms, lifts etc could be cleaner / better maintained. The AC struggled to lower the room temp below 24C. The light in the cupboard where the safe is located would not switch off. Flushing the toilet resulted in it running for over 5 minutes. The grout on the shower enclosures could do with the occasional clean with bleach…. Not what I expected of a hotel with such high daily charges."

"Overall a really nice, comfortable place to stay. Wait staff, Marlin, and exec chef were friendly and enjoyed our conversations! Breakfast was good, dinner was good, grounds and pool area very well kept. The superior room was spacious, clean, and loved our balcony. Stayed for 2 nights, ate our meals there, lounged poolside for the day, and just had a fantastic leisurely time, which is all we had on our itinerary for Weligama! "At the end of our Sri Lanka holiday we decided to spend a bit more on our Unawatuna hotel & were not disappointed. We had large rooms with loads of space, kitchen, really comfy beds, excellent views from our balconies. The staff were helpful & the pool lovely. We did book nicer rooms that some there & didn't eat so can't comment on the food. It's a bit of a walk or a short Tuk Tuk ride to the main tourist area or a beach but that also means it's quiet there."
