It was good then, but has been improved with well appointed rooms and a new conservatory restaurant overlooking the gardens which are alongside the River Rothay. The stairwell ran diagonally above the bed so every time someone walked up the stairs it boomed through just above your head. Hidden charges for using the gym. Main reception in a different building.
