"This property was gorgeous and clean. The room and view from the property was amazing. The staff was very welcoming and provided a lot of information about the city and about out specific room and the history. Definitely recommend staying here if you will be in Matera. "

"The hotel is in a great location to explore Matera, and some of the rooms are in actual caves (it's a great experience for a night or two) without windows. These rooms are very nice and have a good spacious shower. Some rooms are not in the check-in building and so a walk down some stone steps may be required. "

Breakfast is also good - we loved the yogurts and selection of seeds / fried fruits etc. Its 45 minutes walk from the centre of Matera (there are also local buses, or the hotel can call you a taxi) - It’s an easy and well lit walk, just follow Google maps. We were happy to walk and not be concerned about parking (which is a real headache in the centre of Matera)"

The property is actually spread out over several nearby structures, which adds to the overall appeal. Breakfast was in a modified cave and was a very good buffet. Loses 'full marks' since the air-conditioning (clima) appeared ineffective, and the shower was very difficult to use without getting water all over the rest of the bathroom."
