"We were visiting here for our 35th wedding anniversary. We have been coming up every year for our anniversary and at least one other time a year for the past decade. This time was a little different as we didn’t receive our bottle of wine which was a little disappointing (I guess I’m spoiled because we have received one each anniversary), but the facilities and spa were amazing. The staff at the spa, restaurant and valet were beyond wonderful. Looking forward to our next visit already."

"The hotel was wonderful. Service was exceptional, the breakfast in the courtyard was really special. The rooms were very comfortable with robes, slippers and nespresso machine. The location is in the heart of carmel and short distance to the beach. It was ideal being there We stayed up in October and it was in the mid 60s to 70 so at night we left our windows open however there is no air conditioning so we would not have enjoyed our stay in the mid summer. Be cautious of that. "

"In general, a very good stay and we enjoyed our time at the hotel which is very convenient to the surrounding area. My only issues are a)$40 daily resort fee which is kind of a joke given the limited amenities & b)$100 daily security deposit. We stay at a lot of hotels and rarely see this kind of requirement"

"The Matrine Inn is a pretty amazing bed and breakfast -- with an actual breakfast! The rooms are gorgeous and you are right across the street from Monterey Bay and just minutes from downtown. But this is for a very specific type of traveler, so there are few things missing that can be a little inconvenient for some. There is no television in the room I stayed in, no microwave, no mini-fridge - so if you need these types of amenities, plan ahead. They do have wifi and it worked fairly well....

"If there were ten stars I would happily give them to Villa Mara! It’s a charming, small, beautifully run property. One block from the quiet end of Carmel’s iconic beach, it was the perfect location to spend our 24th anniversary. The staff are friendly, knowledgeable and kind. Despite having been to Carmel many, many times, our stay here felt like coming home. We’ll definitely be back. "

"This property has a lot of charm. If you happen to have trouble with stairs, this one is not for you. We enjoyed visiting with the guests during happy hr in the living room and in the morning at breakfast. The gardens are beautiful. Wendy was very nice and accommodating. "

"My family and I stayed for two night. The house was very nice and cozy. We really enjoyed our stay. Bathrooms were nice and they supplied plenty of toilet paper, shower soaps, and towels. Kitchen had pretty much everything we needed for cooking. TVs had Roku’s (although the bedroom remote batteries were dead) but the living room had plenty of space for us to all hangout and watch a movie at night together. A few critiques. They had plenty of sleeping space for everyone but not enough blankets...
