"I was planning on camping a couple of nights near Keswick, weather not looking good for a late arrival so decided to stay at Derwentwater Hotel... so glad I did! - At check in I was greeted in a really professional manner, in the bar the staff were super friendly! That was my opening night. Breakfast in the morning was fantastic, set me up fuel wise for my planned ascent of Skiddaw (walking past a farm I camped at 47 years ago on my first Scout Camp!!) My hike up Skiddaw, descending to Keswick...

"The hotel was very central. The car park is very small and difficult to get into so we ended up in a nearby long stay which was fine. Rooms are a bit dated but comfortable enough. Staff were friendly. Breakfast was really nice. "

"Second time staying at The George. Confusion at check in we had booked a pet friendly room which the hotel had no record of. I did have the emails to confirm this but the hotel managed to find a pet friendly room, not sure what would have happened if there wasn’t one available! Nice staff and very nice well catered for breakfast and a very pet friendly hotel which is important to us. "

"Room was small but lovely and clean. The bed was comfy but the room was way too warm, you can’t control the thermostat. The en-suite was nice but only had a bath and was not made aware of this. The breakfast was so so, poached eggs were good apart from the bread was not toasted at all. The service was very quick and the staff weren’t very enthusiastic and didn’t really know the etiquette of whether you’d finished or not. Great drink selection, and the food on the evening was just about okay. Not...

"The hotel was good. We were in an annex, which you would have selected when booking (which we didn’t). We’d have preferred to be in the main building, for convenience and ambience, however, the room was good and clean. The staff were great and the bar area was really nice, plus it’s very central. Overall, we’d stay again."

"The staff were great. Really made my stay better. Last minute booking to avoid camping in the torrential weather and the girls working were very helpful with everything. Had an awesome night sleep. Reasonably priced for the comfort provided and breakfast was great! Would stay again. "
