Whitwell is a designated dark sky area with some very pretty houses lots of thatched roofs,the local pub is only a few minutes walk and well worth a visit,the food is excellent. "We had a lovely few days in this historic house. Nothing was too much for the owners and the room was so comfortable. We loved the artwork on display in all the rooms and also the old period furniture. It all had a feeling of life some 100 years ago. The gardens were extensive and so quiet. The slightly wild look added to the atmosphere of exploring a garden from bygone years that had been left to its own devices. Would we return one day? Of course we would."

"Paid for a room and got put in a motor home. Out side toilet and shower cubicle with concrete floor and wood sides, having to make your way to them in the dark on uneven paving stones, past rubbish was dangerous. Terrible value for money ."

"The hotel is in a good location in Ventnor with easy access to the local amenities. The gardens are stunning and there was a good selection of food available at breakfast. Our only complaint was the shower as it was very low pressure. The hotel were very accommodating with our last minute booking and were able to store our bicycles for us overnight."
