"I recently stayed at Hotel El Guarco in Cartago for three nights with my partner and my service dog, and once again, it was an outstanding experience. This isn’t our first time staying here, and every time, the service gets better. The staff is always incredibly attentive and friendly, making us feel very welcome. The delicious breakfast included with our stay is always a highlight—there’s a great variety, and everything is fresh and flavorful. It’s also a bonus that some of the staff speak English, which makes communication easy and comfortable. I highly recommend this hotel for anyone visiting the area—whether for business or leisure. We’ll definitely be back!"

"La chambre est très bien équipée, spacieuse et confortable. Le personnel est très attentionné et la vue est magnifique sur les villes de Cartago et San Jose situées plus bas. Cet établissement est idéal pour accéder aux cratères du Volcan Irazu tôt le matin. Vu notre départ avant l'heure du petit déjeuner, nous avons reçu celui-ci la veille et avons tout déposé dans le frigo pour manger avant notre départ pour le volcan. "

"You can easily walk to some local trails and other hotel restaurants. This hotel was a gem! We loved our room, the walls are a little thin but we only shared with one neighbor. Beds were very comfy and had lots of pillows and wall plugs. Staff were pretty friendly, our only “poor” interaction was when we showed up at 8:30 am after a morning hike and were told the breakfast ends at 9 am and made a little fuss over us arriving at 8:30. This was the best breakfast we had. the grounds were beautiful! we saw so many birds and flowers. Our only con was that we didn’t have hot water in our room the first night/morning. We don’t know if this was do to lack of solar available or if other guests used it all but we didn’t have any hot water at 9 pm or 6 am. The second day when we showered right after our hike 4 pm there was hot water. We would recommend this hotel to friends. "
