"Woaw woaw woaw - from the staff to the food, this place is the perfect get away. The rooms are beautiful, we stayed in a Superior double and were right by the beautiful babbling brook (we kept the window open to listen to the stream). We arrived in the late afternoon on Sunday and decided to both have the 3 course for £35. We were blown away by the quality and the flavours that we decided to eat the following night at the hotel. (Despite planning to have dinner at Keswick) We especially love that the menu changes daily, a limited menu because the food is bought fresh on the day, the chef calls the local market and asks what’s available. We thought this was fantastic! We have never had such a wonderful experience with dinner. There is a stunning 5mile walk that sets off from the hotel (Castle Rigg) and we decided to use follow the hotel recommendations. Beautiful walk not disappointed. ONLY LET DOWN - the house keeping, the tea/coffees/biscuits were not topped up throughout our stay and no teaspoons. The dirty mugs were not taken away and no clean ones provided. So we had to wash everything in the sink."

"Great hotel and although not spanking new it has the most fabulous location on banks of Derwentwater and is super dog friendly, Keswick town just a 20min walk away. Fresh decor in bedroom and super comfortable bed.Lovely staff especially Sue, breakfast and bar meals were good. Beautiful sprawling gardens were the perfect spot to enjoy a drink in the evening sunshine.We can’t wait to return! "

"Really lovely stay and great with the dog, free treats for them in the bar. Food was really great too and they offer gluten free options at breakfast which was delicious. Great location a short drive to the lakes and a supermarket within walking distance."

"A lovely small hotel set back from the road but close to the centre of the delightful town of Cockermouth. Staff were courteous and friendly and breakfast very good indeed. Fresh fruit and other breakfast choices are top quality. "

"Friendly owner and staff , nothing was a problem for them . After a busy night in Blackpool we stopped here for the night on our way back to Edinburgh. We were looking for some peace and quiet and that’s exactly what we got in the most tranquil location. Check in was not until 4pm but we arrived around mid day for a bit lunch . Owner said it would be fine to book in around 2ish and gave us some ideas on what to look at in the area for a few hours. Soup of the day for lunch with home made bread was excellent and steak and ale pie for dinner was the best I’ve had and to wash it down with a pint of Lilly’s ruhbarb cider 🍺 . Breakfast is included with your stay and they had everything on offer and I mean everything. The full English is just what you need to get your day started. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay and we will definitely be back in the future ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️"
