"One night stay room only which was very comfortable. Hotel is a grand old dame which is slightly tired in places but was very clean and with a warm welcome. The car park access should be better signposted when approaching from front of hotel. We did not experience the bistro nor bar."

"When we arrived we were given room 12 but upon opening the door it was filled with builders rubbish. We then waited for a while and the manger came to see us saying he only had 1 other room but it has no hot water. He said we could use the spa for free and was very helpful and kind. He said he will re fund half our money back which I’m not sure how this happens as I still havent had this. If I get my money back I would definitely come again and we did have a really nice time "

"Stayed for one night in room 20 which is a family room. The room was spacious and well equipped with tea/coffee facilities, USB charging, plenty of sockets, large bath and roomy shower. It is also well laid out for a family room with 2 separate areas. The double bed for the grown ups was good, although the sheet could have been a little bigger as it kept coming off and wouldn’t tuck back around. "A one night birthday trip. Staff are welcoming and attentive without being intrusive. Room comfortable if a little small. Room was very warm but solved by turning off the heat and opening the window. My only recommendation would be for the waiting staff to bring out the required knives for meals. Had soup and a roll with whipped butter but no knife to spread butter, also had steak again no steak knife. Both had to be requested. "Stayed for one night and the kitchen was closed but loads of options close by in town. Breakfast was amazing however and worth the trip. They opened breakfast early for me as i had an early start. Hotel was period in nature and some things are tired. Bed mattress was thin and awful, but the room was great. Molton Brown toiletries and plenty of good towels. Staff very helpful and friendly. Overall, worth the money and would return without hesitation."

"We stayed here as a couple but also as part of a larger family group, including my niece and nephew (12 and 8 respectively). Our room was the Illingworth room. It was huge, facing out across the road to the lovely old church. Road noise was minimal and the bed extremely comfy with good pillows which were not too soft, perfect for us. We slept well.
