"Umami is a gorgeous garden hotel! We loved our suites. The decor is just stunning. The staff is courteous and kind. Breakfast tasted amazing! We loved the rice and beans. The parking is minimal. However using bikes, a tuk tuk, or walking is the best way to get around this jungle beach town. Bring earplugs because the birds and other lodgings in the area may wake you up. As a Jamaican, I loved our culture mixed in. We loved Old Habour aka Puerto Viejo! We will definitely go back and stay at Umami...

"We loved having the beach and good dining very close. The grounds are beautiful and we saw howler monkeys, common black hawks and sloth right on the property. Playa Cocles is across the street with some major waves! Our apartment had a kitchen which was very convenient. It is close to the street and adjacent property, so not quiet. The only inprovements we would like are a replaced shower head and mitigation of the sewage smell (brief) near the stairs."

"Overall a lovely place to stay. The accommodation was lovely, clean and comfortable. The pool was perfect to relax by. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful also with recommendations of where to eat it town. The only slight negatives are there was no safe in the room and the long (about 1km) dirt road to get there, but even with a tiny 2wd car going very slow it was fine. It’s about a 20 minute walk into the main town. Overall I would definitely stay here again though "

"This place is a gem! Safe , clean and so well kept. You see the staff everywhere taking care of the facilities. The room was so clean, bed was perfect, kitchenette was very useful but it didn’t have utensils of any kind, little microwave and fridge. Oh and the room is quite spacious! "From the second we were dropped off by our shuttle, we were greeted by Sharon & Eric and given a tour of the property and the keys to our villa. Sharon & Eric are so inviting and go above and beyond making you feel extremely welcomed. The villas are beautiful and very well appointed.
