"If you like a room that smells humid and like an old cigarette, this is a place for you. The room hasn’t been upgraded in a generation and the shower had water damage and black mold on the ceiling. The pool and hottub were shut down, and looked like they had been for a while. Of course they didn’t provide notice of any of this, especially to a family coming up to enjoy skiing, and all the outdoor activities the Lake Placid area has to offer, and would love nothing else but to soak in a hot tub...

"We enjoyed our time at the Devlin. It's a convenient hotel with a gorgeous view of the high peaks and within walking distance of many shops and restaurants. There's an okay breakfast of pre-packaged bagels, muffins, and waffles, but if you're short on time, it gets the job done! Our bedroom was beautiful, very clean, and comfortable. The one issue was our coffee maker didn't work well. It leaked everywhere! The staff were very helpful in making sure we could get hot water near the reception...

"The staff were particularly great with every interaction. The rooms were clean, just worn down and outdated. It's low budget stuff, but still a great value for the money. "We had a great time staying at Cadence Lodge. It is very close to Whiteface Mountain for skiing. It was a super cute room, and it was convenient to have a refrigerator and a coffee machine. They also have a shared kitchen with an oven, microwave, cooktop etc. We ate at the restaurant on a Sunday evening, and the food was excellent alongside the drinks and service. I loved the vegetarian options. We would have eaten there on Monday/Tuesday if they had been open. Overall, it is an excellent place...

"The check in and check out process is very unorthodox but extremely easy and simple. I was a little worried when I went into the office/welcome room to get the key because it smells like cigarettes, but the room itself was perfect. You can tell they are updated rooms and look exactly like the pictures shown. They even have that fresh wood smell which makes the room feel like you’re in a cabin and not just a room. We loved our stay here and would definitely come back. "
