"With the varied previous reviews I was unsure how I would like the hotel, but I had nothing to worry about. It was modern, clean, with a great location and friendly staff. My room and bathroom weren't huge but were perfectly fine and modern. I had a room overlooking Powell street that was a bit noisy, but it didn't disrupt my sleep and I loved that the trolly stop was at the corner and union square was at the end of the street, not to mention the BART stop to the airport was just 2 blocks...

"Hotel is good. Rooms are recently remodeled and clean. Beds are comfortable. Good for a budget hotel, rooms were cleaned well every day. The only down side was the "breakfast"...only a couple of packaged muffins, cereal and a coffee maker....kinda a waste of time, had to go out to get breakfast. Like the location....not too far from campus"

"It was a better place than the surrounding motel/inn options. 24 hour front desk. Ear plugs required. Conference in town raised rates of chain hotels too high. This was a good pick for price. "

"Except the old stairs & elevator, Castle Inn is out of my expectations, compared with other of my colleagues that paid a lot for 3-star above hotels in a dirty downtown district. Two Walgreens & one Trader’s Joe at walking distances. Plus, the room is equipped with a microwave, a refrigerator, and a coffee machine. Business trip friendly. "
