"Quiet, comfortable, clean. Simple continental breakfast. Walking distance to downtown/shopping - very easy to get to. Nice convenience store immediately next door. Bonue - John Madden tribute statue right outside the store - was a frequent customer. Walking distance to beach as well, but be ready for the uphill walk back. A slight musty smell in our room, but not noticeable after a few minutes in the room. "

"I was pleasantly surprised with my stay at El Castelll. El Castell is a nice little independent motel within five minutes drive of Monterey Bay Cannery Row and Carmel-by-the-Sea. The double-queen room we had was spacious, comfortable, and clean. The motel itself is quiet, but you may hear the occasional airplane landing or taking off from the nearby Monterey airport. My only nit is that housekeeping did not make the beds daily, though unlike some national chains (cough Hilton cough) they do...

"It’s in a somewhat noisy area during the evening due to the traffic but that is not the hotel’s fault. Overall we enjoyed our stays nd I would consider staying there again!"

"The staff were friendly and helpful in accommodating my family. Overall, the room was clean. The bathroom is very big which is a nice bonus when you have small children. The breakfast was also nice. They offer typical continental breakfast items. There seems to be enough parking for the hotel, but with nearby restaurants, it appears they sometimes use the reserved hotel parking spaces. There is a McDonalds and In N Out right outside the hotel."
