"Good value for the price and centrally located for an urban experience of Zanzibar. I spent a night there before heading north to the beach and my room had lots of character with beautiful sculpted wood furnishings. The bathroom was not renovated, unlike the room itself. It was functional but not inviting. No bottled water was provided which would be nice at least to brush your teeth (can’t drink the water in Zanzibar). The mosquito net had some holes in it. The staff’s English is very limited,...

"The Garden Lodge is in a lovely building, the garden is in fact beautiful, there is a restaurant right in the hotel, the staff are very helpful, and the rooms are very pleasant. I would stay here again."
