"Stayed 31 Oct - 5 Nov 2019 Beautiful compact bungalow resort, set around a lovely pool and restaurant area. The general staff and management staff are very polite and helpful. The bungalows are spacious, well equipped and cleaned every day. We had Bungalow 5 (sleeps four people), it was enormous and well equipped with efficient air conditioning and good shower etc. Good quality lunches and evening meals are available, though variety/choice options are a little limited. "I was booked on AL staff are exceptional from the receptionist, porters to waiters. They ensured that our stay was comfortable. They are very friendly, ever smiling and ready to assist when called upon. There was variety of food and entertainment, Zanzibari night was my best. I will come back again and again."

"I love location of this hotel -on the beach.Staff is very friendly and helpful. Breakfeat meniu could have more variaty,it was so borring to eat pancakes and donuts with watermelion and pineapple for 2 weeks. The first room ,which we stayed was in the terrible condition -couldnt flush toilet,no hot water and later even cold.Then we moved to the room -closer to the beach ,which was much better."

"We had a wonderful holiday. Shooting star lodge is an oasis so peaceful and tranquil that we cannot help to relax and forget about all the cares in the world. Staff were friendly and helpful. Food was great. Our booking was problematic, because the site would not let us book one unit as a family of five. We fitted very comfortably into one cottage in the end but still ended up paying for both."

"The Zanzibar Retreat is a lovely beach front oasis, with beautiful gardens, swimming pool, and miles of gorgeous white sand beach to walk. The rooms are comfortable, clean, and quiet. There are plenty of chairs, either on the beach or by the pool, and little nooks to sit with a drink or read a book. It was the perfect place to relax after 14 days on safari. The owners are always on site interacting with guests and the food was delicious. The shrimp mango salad was a favourite. "

Strongly recommend!

"It is a 5-star feeling, with a feeling of space, mindful of this is Zanzibar and not Hilton in the Western world. You feel there is a strong western management teams that ensure all the little things that you appreciate with a personal touch and connection. Small-medium size resort placed a bit away (1 hour) from tourist centers like Zanzibar city and North main beaches. Yes, the beach is not good, but there is a great one 5 min away connected with the hotel. But you get a feel of space and especially Vladislava and Adella have made the perfect setting for one of the best experiences. You get a feeling of new and clean rooms and a great little resort, amazing restaurant, fantastic pool area and special evening events. Very relaxing feeling all the way - the opposite of Zanzibar Stone Town and North coast. Good value for money compared to other hotels we have seen. You want to top-up for all-inclusive for the days you are not out of the hotel. 80$ and 50$ (non-alco) pp. Not cheap, but worth it. Yes, we strongly recommend this resort/hotel. We were here as a family of 5 in two rooms."

"Stunning hotel with very attentive staff where nothing was too much trouble. A great place to simply relax and do nothing. Excellent breakfasts and good choices for lunch and dinner with menus changed daily. Spotlessly clean with large air conditioned rooms."

"From our first arrival we were greeted with cool towels and warm smiles. The staff is amazing!! Esther at the front desk was very accommodating on our last day- our flight wasn't until late at night so got a lovely extra late check out. The food each day was prepared fresh and most delicious! Our room was the honeymoon suite which including a private pool and the maintenance guy always made sure to clean our pool as well. Having beach access from our room was a great plus because we were in the ocean/beach a lot! This place has not seen the last of us!!!"

Dream of Zanzibar Resort & Spa - Premium All Inclusive

"Food was excellent - particularly prawn grill nights, service very attentive. All inclusive took the pressure off finding food locally. While the beach was cleaned each day, there is an unfortunate amount of rubbish from the locals - not something the hotel can control. More access to water would have been good. Many minor repairs are needed, like taps, locks air con, but as they say in Africa pole pole. Great stay, we enjoyed the hotel. "
