"It was right in the heart of Venice, and walkable from the boat port from the airport. However, if you have lots of luggage, there are several bridges to cross and the cobblestone street made it difficult to maneuver my luggage. When we left, we took a private boat from the rear of the hotel, which made it very convenient to the train station. The historical beautiful property was very special."

We had a small but comfortable room with a shared bathroom (there were 2 in the hall) and while I initially was anxious about that, not once did we ever feel like it was shared. The staff keeps the hotel and bathrooms INCREDIBLY clean; you don’t even get the feeling that there are others staying there. The location is also incredible - everything is within 15 mins walking. We will certainly be back!"

After a long walk up several flights of rundown stairs, we were made to wait outside the hotel enterance until the owner turned up half an hour later. Once inside the check in process took a further 15 minutes where we were told we needed to make a cash payment for the room which we had already paid for by card. "Was a wonderful location, room, and stay! Owner was very nice, and helpful. Room was outstanding, and worked great. It may not be the nicest and most brand new accommodations on the planet, but it was beautiful and worked well! I will stay here again when I get the chance!"

"Location was great.. walkable distance to the city center and most tourist spots you could think of, the staff are incredible accommodating and even let me in the room early like 2 hours before check in time... my only issue was the internet. I worked well in the hallways but would disconnect about half an hour after I’m in the hotel rooms. Also the elevator though it works well, it is quite small.. so if you’re a big party.. it may take you several trips to get everyone up. Other than that...

"Hotel Merlini is a beautiful and unique stay! My girlfriend and I stayed for 3 nights and loved our room, the rustic Tuscan decor and the family who run the hotel are so hospitable and friendly, we didn't want to leave! The location is so central in Florence, recommend very highly!"

"We had the shared bathroom to ourselves so that was a bonus. The room had a fan, no a/c. WIFI wasn't working properly. Loved how the French-style doors opened onto a shared balcony. Also liked having a sink in our room. Very close to the train and bus station, which we needed. The hallway was under renovation so it was very dusty and the elevator wasn't working...the hotel is on the 2nd floor; okay for me but inconvenient for my daughter that had two heavy suitcases."
