"Overall the place is a nice quiet getaway in the woods. Be prepared for lots of DIY when it comes to the sauna and all other wood burning stove fires. An issue for concern, if you stay in the Shire Suite, the front room is solely heated by the wood burning stove and the ventilation is very limited. VERY smokey throughout our entire stay. Also there’s a tin roof so if it’s raining (it did our whole stay) the noise is REALLY loud making it almost impossible to sleep. Pray for no rain at night....

We had a small issue with the check in but Anna responded immediately and even drove over to make sure that everything was okay. We would definitely stay here again!"

"My extended family of 10 stay for the week. With 5 active kids ages 9-12 there was plenty of kayaks, tubes, and canoes for them to use. The river is calm in front of the house. Yes the hill to the water is steep but it wasn’t an issue for any of us. The porch rocking chairs on the screened porch was wonderful for drinking coffee and watching the river every morning. There’s a stack of firewood for the fire pit which is nice of the host to supply along with sticks (in the kitchen) for roasting...
