"The cottage had been beautifully renovated and was located centrally in the old district of town. A couple of small things would have improved the stay-the stairs to the second storey were steep and a bannister rail would have been appreciated, several basic supply items were lacking- no tea bags or fire lighters to light the kindling and wood supplied, and the heating automatically turned off after short periods and not all heaters appeared to be working. Otherwise we enjoyed our stay."

"This cottage is represented well by the photographs on the website. It had everything we needed for our stay. We are two adults and two children (15, 12) and there was adequate room for us all. There were no issues with parking directly outside the property, we managed to get a space everytime. Helmsley is a lovely place, everyone was very friendly. This cottage was an excellent base for exploring the nearby area."

"When travelling with my elderly mother who has a mobility aid, it is often difficult to find a place as comfortable as this. Everything is on one level (no steps), a walk-in shower with a shower chair, and it was warm and cosy when the weather became cold. There were gifts for us on arrival as well! Biscuits, wine... what a treat! "

"We stayed in Buttercup cottage. We were greeted by our host Rachel and made to feel very welcome. The cottage was spotlessly clean with everything we could need. The bedrooms were upstairs, a twin room which looked out over the countryside and also had velux windows for star gazing and the double room with velux windows. Plenty of space, excellent service by manager Lisa...who lives very nearby, and very close to Helmsley, York etc., small but very adequate groicery very nearby, great coffeee shop virtually across the street (not open ..I think..Monday and Tuesday), and plenty of restaurants in the area. Overall, and bear in mind we are used to US accomodations, this is exactly what I think you'd expect, with all that you need ...the owners have a great place...
