"It's a 5-room 2-story building. The manager is onsite most of the time. The bed in a higher loft with a stair. Also a sofa bed. No desk. It is in an alley hard to find. Taxi to a nearby hotel instead (call manager for direction), and don't do map navi. Good location, just blocks away from a big shopping area and restaurants, and a temple. The lady manager is actually managing a traditional Chinese dress try and photo store. The only issue was there are some mosquitoes (was there in May). "

The staff members do not speak English, but they will readily use translation apps to communicate with you--and if you speak Mandarin, they will be incredibly helpful. The breakfasts are fantastic; every day, different Suzhou specialities (mostly different kinds of dumplings and buns) are served with congee, pickles, and fruit. The rooms are well maintained, though the building is, indeed, 240 years old, and sound is transferred fairly easily...
