"I've lived in Thailand for years, had a rental car on this trip and am familiar with Chiang Mai. I very much enjoyed our stay at Centara. Earlier reviews stated that this property was run down. It appears to me to have been renovated very well. Our rooms were spacious, clean and very comfortable. Reception and restaurant/coffee shop were very nice (though over priced). The surrounding area had some -- but few -- restaurants, shops, massage businesses, coffee shops and convenience stores. ...

"Fantastic hotel so clean. A professional outfit and nice little touches like lighting insence outside your room. I had my laundry done and it came back so clean and fresh smelling all nicely folded. The breakfast offers something for everyone and afternoon tea provides some lovely cakes. The swimming pool and quality sun beds and side tables are very comfortable. Shame there isnt more. We loved our stay and it was so convenient to walk to the main area of Chang Mai Thank you. A must stay hotel."

"Most hotels look inviting once you see the lobby and reception area - what you see later may be different. This hotel looks just uninviting from whatever perspective, run down. Staff was not very helpful. The breakfast was very basic. Maybe I should not complain too much, as it was cheap. However this was the only positive - and I believe even simple places can be made nice, neat, cozy, inviting. This place was none of these. The pictures are so far away from reality. Somewhere I read this hotel...

"Property is walking distance to fresh food market, Sunday night market, good eating options and coffee bars and cafes. Easy walk to get fresh fruit and snacks. Breakfast buffet has plenty of cooked options and fresh fruit/bread options. Staff are very helpful and friendly. Property is an oasis off a busy road- once you walk in it’s like being in a different world. Double room suited our family of four, with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, sitting room and balcony. Two pools were very pleasant...
