"This ryokan was exceptional in terms of service and cleaniness. The dinners served in the room were SO GOOD! I stayed 3 nights and each night was an entirely new spread of delicious samplings of the best of Yamagata's food: tender morsels of Yamagata beef, fresh sashimi, pearly shiney Yamagata rice etc., kept being served and there wasnt a night I felt hungry in the middle of the night. "I stayed in one of the rooms with the open air bath on the balcony, and it was one of the best views I've had at onsen. The room was great! I thought the men's public bath was a little run down, but still enjoyable. My wife thought the women's was very good and didn't mention any issues. I hope they can fix it back up because it's a beautiful hotel! I would definitely go again for the same room we had!"

"We had a fantastic time staying here! The staff were all very nice and helpful, the rooms were gorgeous, and the food was fantastic. The private onsen baths which don't require a reservation are a great option for people with tattoos and mixed-gender groups/couples. They were also always available even though thw hotel was fully booked during our stay. I would definitely come here again."

"We stayed here for a week while visiting our daughter who lived nearby. The staff were friendly, and polite. No problem with communication even though I do not speak Japanese. I really enjoyed their breakfast buffet. The view of the mountains from the room can't be beat. I agree with one review that said the toilet in the reception is the best toilet I have been to in Japan, as crazy as that may sound. Highly recommend!"

"Excellent resort beautiful views from ocean view room and the lobby area. We did half board and buffet style breakfast and dinner were excellent. The hotel is situated on top of a steep hill so walking into the town is not an option but the hotel provides free shuttle service which is very convenient."

"Property is high up a mountain secluded. I did not get the chance to explore the area so I'm not sure if there's other options in, but our option was thru a taxi. Definitely would have to drive up to get up there. The facilities had a fantastic view. The hotel also had a spacious onsen, very well equipped.
