"We spontaneously extended our day trip and needed a place to sleep- this hotel was very clean and convenient, with plenty of extra amenities. "This hotel has only one guest house, not room. The house has two bed rooms with two single bed in each. You can play piano if you wish. Big bath, small kittchen clean toilet to stay number of days with a family or friends. Food is not math produced. We have had a game (November) in Italian style for dinner. Hotel is more than 200 year old historical buirding but well maitained. Owner explains building and it's uniqe history. It was our own way from Koya-mountain to Nara by car."

"First time staying in a Skukubo in Japan. The traditional Japanese ryokan style of the Sojin was great. Including tatami matts and sliding doors. The staff and monk service was very accomodating. They provided extra water when I asked for it, and made my bed while I was having dinner. Expecially the dining experience of the Buddhist monks cooking and serving their meals of Shojin Ryori. These were the best meals I have ever had!"

"A very different experience for a foreigner, and one that I cherished as a student of Buddhism. If you aren’t adventurous, I don’t recommend it, and if you go, please be curious, open, and full of respect. The non-sleeping rooms will be very cold in winter, the food served is the food served, without changes available, there are rules about which slippers to wear where and what can be photographed, etc. If you’re interested in deep travel (versus hedonism), you will be gifted and changed. Otherwise, please don’t go. "

Good location

"Good location, great services, has all need. There is no private bathroom, all shared bathrooms, their no chairs all sitting on floor. Could do with a little low chair in room. I had to ask for goma fire as they are not doing them anymore. I think they should have them, lots of people wanted it. I book late, had double price it should be, over price. At normal price it is a good placed to stay and would recommend."

"Excellent Ryokan that has been well maintained and cared for given its long history. The old facility is evident and yet despite that, provided a cosy stay. The host was extremely warm and welcoming and showed the hospitality as one would expect from a traditional Ryokan passed down from decades old. The kaiseki meal at additional cost were delicious and well worth it. Frankly not much around the area and as the host put it best: come, relax and enjoy what the moment has to offer without the hustle and bustle. Fun fact: the hotel has the only elevator in the whole area. "
