"This is a truly beautiful house with long views down to Lucca and olive groves all around. It is well-furnished and we slept really soundly. Massimo, the host, is extremely gracious and offers many great ideas for local activities and day trips, and once you find it the local supermarket is very well stocked. Having said all that, there are two "buts" to determine if this is the right fit for you. The key one is that "steep, winding, and narrow road" indicated in some comments is an understatement of the case. If you are not an experienced and confident driver with a relatively small car, you're going to have a challenge. The road goes from one lane to less than one car width, there are no shoulders, and the dropoffs are steep. It is very unlikely that a car service would agree to come pick you up. Issue #2, which is related to that, is that either you cook quite a bit in the well-appointed kitchen or you stay out for lunch and dinner (meaning drive up the hill in the dark). It is a good 20-25 minutes to anywhere and you get to navigate the hill both ways. We would go out for the day, enjoy an Italian lunch, pick up supplies for dinner, and head home to cook and enjoy that. (Issue #3: if you are a crazy cat person, use your common sense and do not feed the feral cats that roam the mountain as the people before us did.) Again, we very much enjoyed our stay once we figured it all out but you need a small car and you better be a good driver."

"We loved our stay. It was just how we dreamed of staying in a Tuscan villa. The villa was absolutely beautiful and the views were breathtaking. Our hosts were very helpful and responsive if we had any questions. We were able to drive to Lucca, Florence, Pisa, the train to go to Cinque Terra and explore the local area, The location was fantastic. The countryside is just so beautiful. "The house is an absolutely stunning location. Breath taking views every morning, even if the weather did always play ball. There are some lovely areas to walk in and explore nearby and a few very nice local restaurants but these can get booked up very quickly. Even when it was raining we enjoyed our stay as the dense forests provided plenty of cover and there are excellent trips to caves and nearby cities such as Lucca and Barga that are easy drives. The roads in the valley are quite narrow but traffic is generally very light so you I'd recommend not renting an SUV as it makes it much more challenging to pass other cars at points. "

"Beautiful location with great views from the house. House is very spacious with very tradition Italian furniture. Plenty of seating, dishes and cooking implements etc. Bathrooms were well equipped. Pool was lovely with ample loungers and the grounds were well kept. The gym wasn't up to much, but we were there for a holiday, and the table tennis was great for the family. The only thing to be aware of is that the driveway is very steep in places with a sharp bend in it - we had a long estate car (Skoda Superb) and could not get round the bend in one go."

"We have just come back from our ten nights holiday in this wonderful property which is hosted by the lovely Patrizia and her extremely helpful and kind son, Francesco. On arrival Francisco was waiting at the property to welcome us, show us around, explain things to us, and answer any questions. Francesco was then always available via text to kindly help us make restaurant reservations, etc. He was always very quick to respond, and went above and beyond to make sure we were happy and had everything we might need. He is such a lovely person. It was very nice also to meet Patrizia. Her jar of gorgeous homemade jam was a special treat in amongst the very generous box of welcome provisions in the kitchen. The house is a beautiful and traditional Italian home with three big sized bedrooms (that each have a fan and mosquito blinds), a shower room with WC, sink and bidet, a downstairs shower room with WC, small kitchen with everything you could possibly need, and a cosy living room. There were plenty of towels for all us, and Francesco even delivered a big box of more towels mid-stay! There is a fantastic laundry room, too. We absolutely adored the property's stunning outdoors with breathtaking views all around. The swimming pool was amazing, aswell as its eight sun longers, parasol, and cabina. The two outdoor covered dining areas are also excellent; in particular the beautiful loggia situation next to the impressive outdoor-kitchen and pizza oven. Perfection. welcome us a,explain"
